  1. How can my doctor or veterinarian prescribe or place an order?

    Orders can be placed via phone (844) 822-7379 or faxed to (844) 922-7379. Click here for detailed instructions on placing an order. If your prescriber would like us to contact them for the prescription, please let us know. We would be happy to help. Please note that CareFirst Specialty Pharmacy will only compound and dispense medication upon receipt of a valid patient specific prescription from a US licensed prescriber.

  2. If I have a prescription currently being filled at another pharmacy, can it be filled at CareFirst Specialty Pharmacy?

    Absolutely! We will be more than happy to transfer your prescription(s) from your current pharmacy unless prohibited by law. Please contact us for more details.

  3. I am a prescriber, can my orders be billed and ship directly to my patient?

    Yes, we can bill and ship to your patients. We will need to contact the patient for billing information prior to shipment of their prescription. We can also bill to your office and ship to your patients.

  4. What should patients do when CareFirst receives a prescription from my prescriber?

    We will make every attempt to call the patient after receiving the prescription and discuss payment and shipping options. Since we will not process the prescription without the patient's approval first. Patients are welcome to contact our representatives at any time.

  5. Will my prescription be covered by my insurance?

    We currently do not accept prescription insurance plans. However, you will find that our pricing is very competitive and in many cases, the same or lower than what many insurance companies will charge for your co-pays.

  6. How long will it take for my prescription to be filled?

    Commercially available medications will be shipped in 1 business day. For compounded medications, most preparations will ship within 1 to 2 days based on availability. Prescription orders pending prescriber's approval will be processed immediately upon approval.

  7. How can I get a price for my prescription?

    Each prescription is made specifically to your doctor's specification and the ingredients may vary. To ensure an accurate price, we prefer a copy of your prescription before we can provide any pricing. However, we can provide you with pricing over the phone or by submitting the requested information by clicking here. If you are sending us a copy of your prescription, a representative will contact you with a price. Your prescriber can also provide us with a prescription but you are not obligated to fill your prescription with us.

  8. What are your pharmacy hours?

    We are open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m Eastern Time. We are also available for emergencies after hours. Please follow the phone prompts or email us as we regularly monitor emails after hours.

  1. Do you compound sterile items such as injectables, IV drips, Eye Drops, or Inhalation or Ozempic (semaglutide)?

    CareFirst Specialty Pharmacy is a non-sterile compounding pharmacy and does not engage in the compounding of injectable medications or other sterile products. We do not compound sterile products, which include medications like Ozempic (semaglutide). Sterile compounding requires specialized facilities and protocols to prevent any potential risk of contamination or compromised efficacy.
